untitled

Hey, its been a while since my last post. The truth is that i just don't have time to think of anything to write about. CAL just takes the life out of you. On weekends, you only have time to catch up on your sleep. A goodnight sleep is something that is really rare. On average, I sleep for about 5 to 6 hours. Coffee is the only thing that keeps me going. That and the fact that my mum paid RM 12,000 for the fees. HAHAHAHHAHA...Money really puts things in perspective doesn't it?

Anyway, i have been offered a place in UiTM to do foundation in science. UiTM was not my first choice, nor was it my second. It was my third. It was quite a shocker for me to get UiTM to be honest. Of course, i spent the whole day moping around the house, contemplating on my awful string of bad lucks. First the SPM result, then the JPA rejection and now this. Not to mention that my best friend achieved everything that i didn't. Then it dawned on me( about time too), that these are all lessons and experiences that not only made me humble but also stronger in a way. I know what it is like to be rejected(believe me, that is something that i will never forget. What can break you makes you stronger as they say. 'Sticks and stones can't break our bones' really makes sense now.

Being in Uni is going to be a new experience for me. Well, for one i'm going to stay in a dorm. Call me spoilt, but i have never been in a dorm before. I don't know what it looks like. The list of complaints is never ending; there's no air-cond, we have to share the tv and the toilets, we can't drive....Being a person who is adventerous and keen on challenges, i can only say one thing..BRING IT ON!

As i am typing this while my classmates of PM13 are studying Mathematics( hush...i'm playing hooky) i can't help but think about the memories that i had in Taylors(be it bad or good) and the friends i've made. To them i say thank you for bearing with me all this while and making the college experience worthwhile. To the dedicated lecturers, a big THANK YOU to you for teaching me without losing your temper. Yeah, i can be a bit slow but i have learned so much from you. Thank you so much. I will be lying if i tell you that I don't want to leave Taylor's( i really do want to leave.hehehe) but i wouldn't trade my experiences i had in at Taylor's or the numerous string of um...bad lucks for anything else in the world.

I am now a CAL PRE MED student at Taylor's University College Subang Jaya. It was a whirlwind decision i tell you. I literally decided to enroll a day before the day of the registration. I enrolled with the BANK NEGARA Scholars since i joined in late. The CAL course started like two weeks before!!! So, suddenly i found myself running around campus just after a long month of being a couch potato. The good thing is that i lost all the weight that i gained(if any)from eating all the junk food and doing nothing all day long. The bad thing is I find myself missing being a couch potato and how i envy all my friends who are at home doing nothing but having their eyes glued to the TV or computer.Sigh...oh well you can't have the best of both worlds.Oh bloody hell I'm starting to quote Hanna Montana!

Anyway, college is not what i expected. Sure it is cool and don't get me wrong, i do love being in college but sometimes i just find myself asking "WHAT AM I DOING HERE??"I guess you need time to adjust to the different environment. Although i must say i do get a bit irritated when my classmates call our lecturers teacher, teacher!!" This is college dudes! I didn't finish school just to hear people call the lecturers 'teachers' in college.

Anyway, CAL is not a bed of roses for those future college students! I am now passing whatever bit of wisdom i have gained for this pass three weeks. MAKE SURE YOU ARE REALLY REALLY SURE OF THE COURSE YOU'RE TAKING! Do not enroll in courses just because your friends are in it. Don't! What's good for them may not be so suitable for you. This is college. It's time to grow up and make certain decisions on your own. And do not allow your parents to influence you to much when deciding on a course or college. I'm not saying you shouldn't listen to them. They may have some good advice. Just be sure you are doing it for yourself and not because your mum and dad told you to do so. It's time to spread those wings of yours and leave the nest. But don't leave permanently lah! You still need money! HAHAHAHAHHA...

Anyway, i can only say this to my friends and those who are going to go to college, be ready my friends! College is an interesting experience!! But don't ruin it by going to clubs, partying and drinking. What's the point? You can do that when you have your own money!!!!

Bored

Wow! it's now 2010! Can you believe that folks? How time flies... I have just recently turn 18 and am feeling slightly more matured(slightly). After spending a month criss-crossing the United States of America, i am so glad to be back home in Malaysia. Dorothy was right when she said "There's no place like home". We ran into a series of unfortunate events such as delays, a lost camera, security checks and the bloody aweful weather. Apart from that, the trip was a memorable and an eye-opening experience! Trust me, watching and hearing your mum screaming during the ride on Space Mountain is not something you forget easily.

Anyway, i now find myself sitting in front of the computer for hours at a time just to kill time. It's either that or watching TV. The only time i come in contact with other human beings is during my daily morning jog. I am seriously starting to lose my sanity if i keep this up. Some of my friends have started college and some have taken up language classes. Unfortunately for me, i am stuck at home with nothing to do. My mother told me to read a book, i did. I finished all the books that i have on my shelf in three days. That should be an indicator of how much time i have on my hands. To make matters worse, i started watching all the Disney classics on You Tube. What a way to travel down memory lane huh?

So i decided to post all my daily activities on my blog just to share with the thousands of other bored post SPM students who are facing the same problems as I am.
I am in the middle of preparing a series of guides for all the couch potatoes in need of help. See you soon!

SPM ISSUES

Hello there to those who happen to stumble to my blog! Sorry for not posting anything for so long as i am currently taking my SPM!!!

SPM is drawing to a close and i could not be happier. I am sure all FORM 5 students all over Malaysia agree with me. After 11 years of school life, i cannot wait to be free. No more uniforms is a welcoming thought! Anyway, some of the SPM papers were ok, some were F***ING HARD! Add math was an example. I mean, the first paper was ok but the second was just frustrating.I guess i was never very good with numbers. I suppose my only comfort is that you don't need Add Math in Med school right? right?

The most satisfying part of the whole SPM ordeal is the cleaning up part. Yup. Nothing is more satisfying than throwing away all those text books, reference books and exam papers that you have accumulated for 2 years. It is a form of therapy. Imagine throwing away that god forsaken SEJARAH text books after 2 years of enslaving your brain with sometimes unless info that have nothing to do with history OR tearing all the exam papers that you have kept in dusty files. If only i could have a bon fire using the papers. While i am taking SPM, several issues have popped up amongst the students which i thought are worth discussing.

-CHANGE OF GRADING SYSTEM WAS NOT A GOOD IDEA-

The issue of SPM crops up another topic which has bothered SPM candidates all over Malaysia. The grading system. Yes the f****ing grading system. HOW CAN THEY CHANGE THE GRADING SYSTEM A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE ACTUAL EXAM! I would like to meet the asshole who came up with the brilliant idea. Does the Ministry of Education employ morons to work for them? I mean changing A1 to A+ this year is just ludicrous. You don't build the Petronas Twin Towers a few months after planning it. Is this an indication that the Minister of Education is not doing his job? Perhaps to busy with politics to actually care about the well being of the education system?
I thought having a new Minister of Education would solve problems not create new ones. Clearly they are all from the same mould, the UMNO MOULD.

They should stop mixing politics and education. This is just one territory that should not be tarnished by the corrupted and grubby hands of politics. You politicians can take it to the parliment but do not involve us students.

-PROPAGANDA IN HISTORY TEXTBOOKS-

I am sure many of you do not enjoy Sejarah. I, on the other hand enjoy Sejarah. The bravery of our ancestors, the problems we faced in our country and what we did to gain independence. However there are certain topics in the books that i could not for the life of me relate to history. Certain things that should belong in a SIVIK textbook then Sejarah. One example is the Wawasan 2020. The vision was the brainchild of Tun Dr. Mahathir in the 1990's as a way to encourage Malaysians to work harder in order to quote 'menjadikan Malaysia sebagai sebuah negara yang maju dengan menggunakan acuan sendiri setanding dengan negara maju di dunia'. Yes, the vision was coined up in the past so i suppose it does have a place in our textbook. However, the explanations that were given to us sound like a government propaganda scheme. Glorifying the government in ways that are clearly not true. Too many times have i read the credits the government receive for things that they clearly do not deserve. For those who don't believe me, try reading the Sejarah text books and see for yourselves. The propagandas in the textbooks though is subtle rivals that of the Third Reich's propaganda of the supremecy of the Aryan race. Come to think of it, our Ketuanan Melayu issue is similar to that of the supremecy of the Aryan race. Thank God we are not that extreme. To the government, TRY READING THE TEXT BOOKS! UNDERSTAND WHAT WE STUDENTS FEEL!

MALAYSIA, UNITY AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!

Satu Malaysia:rakyat di dahulukan, pencapaian diutamakan. That is the tag line to our current PM's motto. I have to admit it is rather catchy though i still favour 'Perpaduan Teras Kejayaan'. Yes my friends, i have finally found free time to post something new. It has been awhile since my last post and for that i can only offer my apologies(macamlah ade org nak baca blog aku). My life has been quite hectic with SPM trials and the looming SPM on the horizon.

Anyway, before i begin my ramblings I would like to offer my condolences to the family of the late Yasmin Ahmad who passed away recently. Her sudden passing is a shock to us and the country has lost one of it's best talents. May Allah bless her soul.

Our beloved nation celebrated it's 52nd Independence Day recently. Even though it was a moderate even as compared to previous celebrations, no H1N1 pandemic can deter the spirit of Malaysians who performed and those who stood outside of the parliament. I admire the patriotism exhibited by my fellow Malaysians.

Our beloved Malaysia has now turn 52(technically Persekutuan Tanah Melayu is 52 years old). Wow! Imagine that!!! As we celebrate our independence, i cannot help but think about recent events that give the impression that we are still not united. The Kampung Buah Pala incident for example was only a small issue until some assholes made it into a political and racial issue. Now, we all know that race and religion are two very sensitive issues. VERY VERY SENSITIVE. I don't understand why must they make it a big issue? Kite ni kan civilised, x boleh bawa berbincang ker dahulu? We as Malaysians, regardless of race, culture or religion must unite in order for prosperity to reign. What happened to the days when Muthu, Ali and Ah Chong can go fishing without instigating and racial debate? I wish i could turn back the clock and live during those simple times. Remember, we achieve our independence together. Tunku Abdul Rahman did not go alone you know...... Representatives from other races went together with him to achieve independence for Malaya not for the Malays alone.

For those who find this offensive, i am very sorry. Again, i am only 17 and just beginning to learn about the world i live in. Yes for a 17 year old i am quite aware for our current political issues. I am very grateful that the government is more transparent(Thank You Pak Lah!) and a little bit less uptight(little, tiny, weeney bit). Freedom of speech is something we all crave for but do not abuse it. In a multiracial country, freedom of speech can be a very dangerous weapon. If you want to compare us to US, then you are wasting your time. It is just not fair for people to compare us to a country that has been independent for so long. Besides, seriously , you guys nak ke being compared to the most hypocritical country in the world. For example, remember when US warned us not to use ISA as a political weapon? Habis Guantanamo Bay tu ape benda? 5 star hotel? Please do not abuse our right for freedom of speech as it may be taken away...it could happen you know......

A famous blogger was once detained under the Internal Security Act for posting something deemed sensitive and quite incriminating. Whether or not the information he posted is true, we may never know( i really, really want to know!!). We may crave for freedom of speech but i am afraid that we never fully get it. It may be the government or society itself that prevents us from getting it. Personally, i am not obsessed about it. We may be living in a conservative country that requires little changes but i am still happy. Even though we are a small country and tend to be missed by most foreigners( Where's Malaysia? is it near Singapore?), there is still no place like Malaysia. Malaysia truly Asia as they say... I was born here and i will die here. I will defend my country even if it means losing my life in the process.

pakai casual jer...

it is true that girls are vain? according to the world yes. we are vain. but i never thought i would be really vain.

adnan is having a birthday dinner or party or what ever you want to call it at the Equatorial Hotel(hope the spelling is right). Of course Nad and I are invited along with some other friends. i didn't think much about it until adnan called on my phone during English Lit class(perfect timing Adnan!!!!) to confirm our attendance.I asked him what is the 'dress code' for the evening and he said casual.

LEARN SOMETHING HERE ADNAN: casual to nad and i=track suit and an old comfy t-shirt or PJ's!!!

after the lit class, i told nad that i was busy thinking about what to wear instead of paying attention in class(I hope Pn. Mohana,(gulp) doesn't read my post!). and whaddaya know, she was thinking the same thing too. sighhhh... nad, we really need to stop thinking about the same things.anyway, i spent the whole evening and night going through my closet. SOS: I NEED HELP.THE DINNER IS TONITE!!!!!

so while i'm typing away, i am still thinking about what to wear for tonite.Kenapa nak buat kat hotel!!!!! kan dah susah anak dara dua orang nih, dah tak tahu nak pakai ape!!!.jeez, rich people!!!

sadly, i have to throw my ego out the window and say I AM VAIN!!!!.

lessons in life

i realized that you can learn the most unusual things when you are down with the flu, having a sore throat and a massive headache. i just had one experience last Wednesday with none other than my(unfortunately)best friend nadiah j or nadnad for short.

so there i was sitting in class, waiting for the bell to ring at 1.10,(we didn't have est that day. i count my little blessings)planning my next activity at home...1.take off my shoes
2.take my pills
3.crawl to my beloved bed
4.make my trip to Lala Land.
all day long, i was yearning, dreaming and craving to lie in bed, with the air conditioner on and the tv on. that was my heaven right there...so close yet so far!anyway, when the bell rang, i couldn't wait to get home, until nad's phone rang(nadiah dah maju, die ade phone sekarang).it was her mum. naturally, i would want a fast ride home instead of waiting for the van.

me:nad....i nak tumpang.nak balik cepatlah
nad:jap eh...
(nad was on the phone)
nad:my mum nak keluar...die nak punch in and then pegi kl central. nak amik ticket. nak ikut tak?
naz:bolehlah. dgn your dad sekali ke?
nad:yup.

we made the long journey to her car. i said my hello's to her parents and we set off to her office. naturally, the whole trip was filled with funny moments and absurdly funny conversations(thank you uncle and auntie!!!!)on our way to IKEA(we got hungry and decided to have lunch, although i later found out that nad's mum wanted to go shopping)the radio was playing this weird malay song. i listen harder and it was about a chicken! yes, a song about a chicken.

radio:ayam...macam macam ayam....
naz:nad, kenapa lagu ni pasal ayam
nad:sebab orang tu suke ayam...
naz:oh.nad....why are we listening to this?
uncle:because auntie and i are bringing it to US
naz:eh? kenapa!!!!lagu ni peliklah!!!
nad:welcome to my world.
all four of us started laughing.

the next song was even worse.
radio:makanan pelik-pelik...(something i didn't catch)....tahi itik...
naz:nad....kenapa lagu nih!
nad:entahlah naz. my dad beli!
uncle:sedap ape lagu nih!

and the rest will forever be on my mind.....that was my experience with nad's quirky family. but hey, i love being quirky and had a blast. so what i have learned :
1. all mothers are the same(they like to shop)
2. IKEA is a good place to have lunch and shop
3. never take mothers to IKEA
4. children and fathers are able to bear with shopping mums
5. there are songs out there that should be banned!!
